Hi, I'm Matt Plessner, owner of Solid Sound Music. I'd like to tell you a little about myself, and also personally thank you for expressing interest in my company.
I have loved music all my life. I've played guitar since I was 10, written songs since I was 14, and have spent my entire life collecting and absorbing music of all kinds!
I graduated from Principia College with a degree in Mass Communication with a focus in broadcasting. After receiving my degree, I moved to St. Louis to attend The Broadcast Center, one of the leading radio training schools in the country. I spent a little over a year there doing hands-on studies of all aspects of radio.
During this time, I also worked for a local St. Louis DJ service called Millenium Music, which at the time was the top-rated DJ service in the city. It was here that I got most of my experience as a mobile DJ. I learned to be very attentive to small details of presentation, especially when working with brides and wedding planners. After living in St. Louis, I worked with a company called Top Hat Productions in Peoria, IL, furthering my experience.
Eventually I moved south to Texarkana, TX, where I worked for 2 and a half years in mainstream radio. I spent a year as an on-air personality for a Top 40 station for the afternoon drive, followed by behind the scenes work in radio production.
I established Solid Sound Music in 2011, and moved to Grand Rapids in 2012. Since then, I've provided music for hundreds of weddings all around the state, as well as all types of special events (fundraisers, charity shows, dances, karaoke nights, parties, etc.)
